Database upgrade

To connect with a new version you need to upgrade your database (for On-Site edition).

Steps:

  1. Download Database Manager according your SQL Server version (2005, 2008)
  2. Unzip it to folder in your local disk and run ScrumDeskDBMngr.exe
  3. Click Upgrade radio button in Step 1
  4. Enter server name, login, password and click Connect button
  5. Choose your database  in Databases combo box
  6. Click Update button

Distributed environment support

Local time

One of the challenges developing your product in distributed environment is definitely fight with the time. We are introducing possibility to configure current time zone where the member is located at the moment.

It is possible to set current time zone where the member is located right now. Everyone can see time of other team members directly in SideView/Project pane.

 

Role of team member

Role of team member is indicated in SideView/Project by color and name of the role bellow the name of team member.

Online status

Distance biggest disadvantage is you don’t have team collocated. You are always trying to catch someone. ScrumDesk can help you with that. You can easy change your status, but it is not required as ScrumDesk will check if you are using computer or not.  This way you can recognize if your team buddy is at his desktop or not.

Status could by change manually from top menu or SideView/About Me.

Absences

Absences are indicated in SideView now. Picture of the user is grayed in case team member is on holiday.

Number of active absences are indicated by the number in text of Absence button .

Story

Time spent

Spent time is possible to track in ScrumDesk now. Spent time is possible to enter in tasks list in the card or in story detail dialog.

Comments

User could enter comments to stories and tasks. Assign impediment

It is possible to assign impediment now so you can say who should be responsible for removal of it.

Also to provide better feedback impediment is marked with colored strip on the left side of displayed item.

Story Detail dialog

Dialog for access your story was redesigned to provide better access to your story so you can see more information about the story description and your acceptance criteria.

Task list can be much longer now. Tooltip displayed for task is displaying its description.

The new feature are comments for possibility to discuss a story.

Header of tab displays number of items and the background of the window is based on the story card color.

Pie chart displays percentage of completed tasks.

Click Tags button and select tag already entered on some story, so you’ll not miss some.

Spell Check

We are providing support for integrated spell check for these languages:
-          English
-          Spanish
-          German
-          French
User can choose its preferred language in Project/Settings page.

After text is written in any text box, it is checked according to language preference. Right click as you are used to do in your word editor and choose correct word.

Sprint

Finishing sprint

Some customers do not want to finish sprint with 0 reamaining time unit. They need to see hown many of time units were not finished so they can track this value (precision of estimation).

Notes

Team could track notes related to sprint directly in SideView/Sprint pane so they are easy accessible by anyone, especially during daily stand-up meetings.

As a timesaver you can click TimeMark  button to enter current date, time and name of logged user as a timestamp directly into text.

Attachments

Finally we implemented feature asked by many of you. You can attach any document or picture to your sprint so you can have all sprint related materials at one place.

Attachments are accessible in Sprint Detail dialog too.

Release

Added was support of attachments for releases directly in Release detail window.

Settings

There are new configuration settings available:

  • Possibility to allow/disallow news notify balloons
  • It is possible to allow/disallow to change operator (owner)  after the change. Typically used when ScrumMaster don’t want to be assigned after change
  • Spell checking, see above

Stories Filter

Click on information bar on the top of the window to display advanced filter. Newly designed filter is providing a way how easy filter based on more conditions:

  • By status
  • By team member
  • By Sprint and release
  • By Theme
  • By Tag
  • By color
  • When story has been modified
  • By text

Selections are combined.  Click Reset to reset filtering. Click on any item will immediately filter stories.

Retrospective Filter

Advanced retrospective filter has been redesigned to provide better access to different filter conditions.

Ideas can be filtered by:

  • implementation status
  • team member who wrote the idea
  • categories of ideas
  • free text filtering

 

Reports

Risk vs. Value reports

Tooltips displays identification of the story, not just risk and positive value.

In case more stories have the same values and they are positioned at the same place, click to display menu and choose which story should be displayed in details window.

Product Overview/Daily backlog Trend

New feature is flow visibility of the completed work. Every completed story is displayed as yellow circle in this diagram. Tooltip provides a list of stories completed to given date. Product owner see ‘timeline’ of completed features so he is informed about the progress in such visible manner.

Velocity per week

This new chart visualize progress of your velocity per week. Some teams do not have sprint the same length. In this case velocity of sprint must be replaced by velocity per week so team can make estimation much precise.

My Impediments

There is a new checkbox in Impediments dialog so logged user can filter all impediments and see just impediments enterd or assigned to logged user.

Documents

Finaly we support integrated documents inside ScrumDesk. Well we are starting with the first document for you = Sprint Overview.

Click on the name of the document in the left list and you will see short description and document itself. You can save it to Microsoft Excel or Acrobat PDF format.

Activities Log

We have changed the way how activity is tracked by ScrumDesk. Now you can see better description of the change, who is an author of the change and when entity has been changed.
