How To Setup SQL Server for remote connections

Connectivity

ScrumDesk, even in demo version, checks a user license on a server. You need to have demo.scrumdesk.com, port 80 accessible. Check your firewall settings, please.

Also, the demo database is hosted on demo.scrumdesk.com - add to your firewall rules TCP, demo.scrumdesk.com, 1433,1434 ports.

Cannot connect to license or demo database server

Download ScrumDesk Connection Tester (50KB).

Save it to local drive, unzip the files and after you run it, press Test button. If you are using http proxy server with authentication, fill proxy properties to Proxy Server group.

If licensing and demo database server are accessible, following dialog will appear:

Successfull connection

Otherwise, dialog with error description and Send button will appears. Please send us this result and we will contact you to help you.


Licensing

Bad user name or password

Check a login name and password entered in a login window. Our customers receive their login parameters by email. If you didn't receive this email, contact our Support please.

User is not licensed.

To run ScrumDesk you are required to have a valid license. To get the license contact our Support please.


Installation related problems

Firefox

Firefox does not support ClickOnce installation natively. You need to install  FFClickOnce plug-in.

Opera

Opera does not support ClickOnce installation natively. Please, use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or other browser with ClickOnce support.

Zip files can not be downloaded

You are not able to download our zip files when you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer. We are sorry, but this is not our problem. Links to our zip files are verified.

This is known Internet Explorer problem KB30890. Alternatively, you can try other web browser.

No setup window after Launch or Install

After the installation starts, only download window with progress bar will appear. The installation window will not appear.

  1. Run Internet Explorer Security settings (Tools->Internet Options, Security Tab) dialog.

  1. Click on Custom level  button. A dialog Security Settings - Internet Zone will appear.

  1. Check radio buttons states in ".NET Framework reliant components" according the picture, please.  This are required settings to run ClickOnce applications over the internet.

Update is not working

Despite of update is available, ClickOnce does not update the installation in some cases. In this case try to delete temporary internet files.

Minimum requirements

ScrumDesk requires at minimum:

  • Windows XP or Windows Vista
  • Installed .NET 3.0 framework. You can download it here.
  • 512 MB RAM
  • Internet connection to access demo database hosted on our servers.

I have read only access

ScrumDesk permits users access based on user role in current project. If you have read only access, you are a project Visitor. You are allowed to see all the information but you can not change any information.
